We are currently the company in residence at the Maison Pignal, in the town of Livron-sur-Drôme, a residence which will last until July 2012.
The Maison Pignal is a cultural centre that exists thanks to the town council. It is a place of artistic and cultural exchange, and currently houses 4 resident artists and companies and a school of music.
Our company is currently made up of three English artists, who have been living and working in France for several years and who are passionate about creating strong links within the community.
During the next three years as company-in-residence at the Maison Pignal we hope to create permanent exchanges between us and the other artists, between the different parts of the commune and the people of the town.
This is a project based on the idea that often we know very little about the people that we see everyday; our postman, our teachers, our baker, sometimes even our own family. We aim to share something about ourselves and find out what things we have in common.
This project has begun in Livron and will last the duration of our residency, as we aim to find and share more about the people of Livron.
For our first project we filmed only just the hands of the participants, thus providing anonymous yet intimate ideas: Everybody’s hands have a story to tell, everyone is interesting and worth something to our community.
This project ties in with our 2010 creation, Diaspora, a mini-museum and outdoor show based on refuge and exile. Part of the research during this project will be talking to community members, refuges and ex-patriots about their culture, community, family and what is precious to them and making comparisons with their country of origin.
This project is a mini-festival celebrating the night of shooting stars, normally in the 2nd week of August.
An exchange of stories and legends around the themes of the planets, the stars and the moon, culminating in a night-time procession with lanterns, music and good friends.
This mini-festival is a homage to the many festivals in the UK which combine community work with the arts to create events which are accessible to everyone.
